Deposit refund

 

DEPOSIT REFUNDED WITHIN 21 - 90 DAYS AFTER THE END OF TENANCY​ IF...

  • You have deregistered from your address with the Municipality,
  • Your rent is paid until the end of your tenancy,
  • Your room is left in the right condition, all clean and no belongings left behind.

THEN...

  • Your deposit will be refunded to the credit card we have on file from the initial booking payment.
  • If someone else paid for you, this may not be your card.
  • If you didn't pay your deposit by credit card but via iDEAL or bank transfer after your booking, your bank account isn't automatically registered for a refund. Scroll down to "How to change your refund to a bank account?" Make sure to have shared your bank information with us before the end of your lease. 

 

Didn't leave your room clean or return your keys on time? Costs for disposal of items and missing keys will be deducted from your deposit. The caretaker will report his findings and costs to the tenant and administration department within 2 weeks after the end of the lease date.

 

You won't receive a notification when the refund process has started. Feel free to contact us if you haven't received your deposit 9 weeks after the end of the lease. Please check the card that was used to pay the deposit.

 

Please be patient! We try to process each deposit refund as soon as possible, but it is a large quantity and thus a time-consuming process.

 
 

How to change your bank details for receiving your refund?

  • Did you pay your deposit in a different way than by credit card?
  • Did your credit card expire or is no longer accessible?
  • Make sure to updated/share your bank information with us before the end of your lease.
     

Deposit Refund Process to a Non-SEPA-Country Bank Account Number: For non-SEPA countries, your bank can deduct about €20 to €50 transfer fee from the deposit amount we transfer. We do not cover these expenses. If you have a non-SEPA country bank account or face another issue, please provide us with your bank details via email

Deposit Refund Process to a SEPA-Country Bank Account Number: If your bank is located in a SEPA country, share a SEPA bank account number with us via your online account before the end of your lease on www.lievendekey.nl. 

Please note: a SEPA account needs to be available for at least 3 months after the end of your tenancy.

 

Unfortunately, we cannot refund the deposit to another credit card than the one you used when you booked the room.

 

FAQ

 

  • To which credit card will you refund my deposit? Your deposit will be refunded to the credit card that you used when booking your room. Attention: this is not necessarily the same as your bank account or credit card used for rent payments during your lease.
  • Activated a direct debit for your monthly rent payments? It can be possible that your deposit will be refunded to that (direct debit) SEPA bank account (refund to credit card can be overruled). Please check both (credit card and bank account)!
  • My initial booking payment was not paid by credit card, how do I get my deposit? Please read the instructions at ‘How to change your bank details for receiving your refund?'
  • How much is my security deposit? This is stated in your tenancy agreement. First notice and article 3.5 or 3.7: This amount will be released after the end of your lease. A positive amount on your balance will be paid back together with your deposit.
  • Can my deposit be used for my last month's rent? No - You are obligated to pay the rent in advance and until the end of your tenancy agreement, even when you plan to leave days or weeks before. Please note: Your tenancy cannot be shortened, and it is not allowed to sublet.
  • Can my credit card information be changed to new credit card. my previous one expired? No, we can only use the initial card information - as we use an alias that came with that first payment. When the card expired or closed, we cannot update the new card information. Only a transfer to a bank accountnumber will work. This is also for savety mesearements
